We are excited to announce that two of our entrepreneurs, Seun Sangoleye, Founder & Mum-in-Chief, Baby Grubz, and Kunle Jinadu of Mealimeter won 1st and 3rd place respectively in this year’s Global Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Pitch competition. This makes the second year running that one of our entrepreneurs has won the coveted SUN Pitch Competition which connects nutrition-focused SMEs in emerging markets with technical and investment opportunities. Ope Olanrewaju of  KCL won the inaugural Regional Pitch Competition in 2018.

Over 500 SMEs applied from which 21 finalists were selected to participate in the final event. FATE Foundation partnered with the Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network Nigeria and the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition to run the local Accelerator which took place between October to December 2019. Seun subsequently won the local pitch competition, while Kunle Jinadu and Emeka Nwachinemere of eFarms were also selected to join the 21 entrepreneurs who pitched.

All finalists went through extensive business development and investor readiness training, as well as nutrition education, mentoring, and coaching from local and international experts.

Founded by Seun in 2013, Baby Grubz processes all-natural cereals for children under 5 years to tackle nutrition. With a wide product variety range including ground brown rice cereal, Banana and Dates, Sweet Potato cereal, Baby Grubz works with over 300 women across the country in her sales and logistics value chain.

We first met Seun when she enrolled in our ScaleUp Agribusiness accelerator which she won in 2018.
